Prohibitin is an evolutionarily conserved protein with homologues found in yeast to man. It is located in the inner membrane of mitochondria. PROHIBITIN APPEARS TO BE A VERY RELIABLE MARKER OF MITOCHONDRIA. Shows antiproliferative activity and has been proposed to play a role in normal cell cycle regulation, replicative senescence, cellular immortalization, and tumor suppression.

Applications	Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence, Immunoprecipitation, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications have not been tested.
Recommended Dilution	Immunoprecipitation: 2ug/mg protein lysate., (Protein G)
	Native and denatured
	Western Blot: 0.5-1ug/ml for 2 hours at RT.
	Immunohistochemistry (formalin/paraffin): 2-4ug/ml for 30 minutes at RT. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues REQUIRES boiling tissue sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0, for 10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 min.
	Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability	May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
