| PGP9.5/UCH-L1 is a member of a gene family whose products hydrolyze small C-terminal adducts of ubiquitin to generate the ubiquitin monomer. Protein gene product (PGP9.5) is a neuron specific protein, structurally and immunologically distinct from neuron specific enolase. The protein which has a molecular weight of 27kD was first identified by high resolution two dimensional PAGE. Standard immunohistochemical techniques have demonstrated the presence of PGP9.5 in neurons and nerve fibres at all levels of the central and peripheral nervous system, in many neuroendocrine cells, in segments of the renal tubules, in spermatogonia and Leydig cells of the testis, in ova and in some cells of both the pregnant and non-pregnant corpus luteum. PGP9.5 gene encodes two opposing enzymatic activities that affect alpha-synuclein degradation and Parkinson's disease susceptibility. | | | Catalog # | P9102-70B | | Application(s) | Western Blot | | Recommended Dilution | Western Blotting: Detects a band of approximately 27kD. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50?, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Polyclonal | | Isotype | IgG | | Host | Goat | | Source | Human | | Concentration | Not determined | | Form | Serum. Supplied as a liquid with 0.1% sodium azide. | | Purity | Serum. | | Immunogen | Synthetic peptide NFRKKQIEELKGQEVSPK corresponding to amino acid sequence 46 - 63 of human PGP9.5. | | Specificity | Recognizes protein gene product 9.5 (also known as Ubiquitin Carboxyl-Terminal Hydrolase L1). PGP9.5 is located primarily in the cytoplasm of neurons and represents 1-2% of total soluble brain proteins. PGP9.5 is involved in the processing of ubiquitin precursors and ubiquinated proteins. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
