| PP6 (PPP6, Protein Phosphatase 6) is a Ser/Thr protein phosphatase that is part of the type 2 PPP family that includes PP2A, PP4, and PP6. All of these phosphatases are sensitive to low doses of Okadaic acid. PP6 is conserved among eukaryotes and the function of PP6 is relatively unknown, but the Saccharomyces cerevisiae homolog of Sit4 has been implicated in the cell regulation of G1 to S progression (Stefansson, 2006). Knockdown of PP6 in mammals has been related to a very high rate of apoptosis. Based on this and other information, PP6 is believed to function in cell cycle regulation. PP6C encodes the catalytic subunit of the protein phosphatase. PP6C binds to PP6R1, PP6R2, and PP6R3 through the SAPS domain of PP6R (Stefansson, 2006). This complex is known to bind to and protect IKBE from degradation in response to TNF alpha treatment (Stefansson, 2006). | | | Catalog # | P9107-56 | | Applications | Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Western Blot: 1:500-1:1000 | | Immunohistochemistry (paraffin): 1:100 | | Immunoprecipitation: 10-20ug/ml | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Positive Control | Jurkat Cell Lysate | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Polyclonal | | Isotype | IgG | | Host | Rabbit | | Source | Human | | Concentration | ~1mg/ml | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS, 0.08% sodium azide. | | | Purity | Purified | | Immunogen | Synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminus of PP6C. | | Specificity | Recognizes the catalytic subunit of Protein Phosphatase 6, MW ~33kD.
