| Striatum-enriched protein-tyrosine phosphatase (STEP) isoforms 61 and 46 are two of the many splice variants for STEP, a protein belonging to the protein-tyrosine phosphatase family and containing a single tyrosine-protein phosphatase domain. STEP61 is membrane-associated, where as STEP46 is cytosolic. STEP61 also differs in that it contains a sequence of 172 amino acids with structural motifs not found in STEP46. Both isoforms are phosphorylated on serine residues, although STEP61 is mainly phosphorylated at Ser160 and Ser221, while STEP46 is phosphorylated at Ser49. STEP is thought to have a critical role in regulating dopamine efficacy on striatial medium spiny neurons, neurotransmission through the NMDAR pathway, and AMPA receptor endocytosis. | | | Catalog # | P9109-27Z | | Applications | Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry.
