| RARRES1 (retinoic acid receptor responder 1; also Tig1) is a member of the protease inhibitor I47 family of proteins. It is expressed in epithelium, including keratinocytes, plus prostate and breast epithelium. It is considered to be a tumor-suppressor molecule, presumably acting as an inhibitor of carboxypeptidase A. Human RARRES1 is 294aa in length. It is a type II transmembrane (TM) protein with a TM segment between aa21-42. Three potential splice variants exist. There is a 46aa N-terminal extension, a four aa substitution for aa225-294 and a combination of these two variants.
