| RNA polymerase II is a 113aa protein belonging to RNA polymerase beta chain family. It contains a carboxy terminal domain composed of heptapeptide repeats that are essential for polymerase activity. The C-terminal domain (CTD) of RNA polymerase II is required for efficient U2 snRNA transcription. Its localization identifies novel sites of transcription and provides insights into the regulation of transcription elongation.
