Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNP) bind to nascent RNA polymerase II transcripts and are involved in transcript-specifi packaging as well as alternative splicing of pre-mRNAs. hnRNPs also appear to influence mRNA metabolism and transport. In vivo, the M proteins bind to mRNA, and in vitro they bind avidly to poly(G) and poly(U) homopolymers. Four different isoforms of hnRNP are produced by alternative splicing: M1, M2, M3, and M4. Ongoing studies have theorized that hnRNPs may cause certain genetic diseases such as myotonic dystrophy, which is the most common form of adult muscular dystrophy. The identification of hnRNPs may therefore be important to determining the cause and cure for genetic diseases.

Storage and Stability
Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Immunogen
RNP. Autoantibody derived from human serum.
Form
Supplied as a lyophilized powder in PBS, pH 7.4, 0.02% sodium azide. Reconstitute with 2ml ddH2O.
Purity
Purified by fractionation of delipidated and defibrinated donor human serum.
Specificity
Recognizes human RNP. Specificity is verified by a precipitin line of identity with the CDC-AF reference serum. This product shows no reactivity at a dilution of 1:100 when tested against purified Ro/SSA, La/SSB, Sm, Scl-70, Jo-1, Mitochondrial or Ribosomal P antigens in an ELISA system designed to detect IgG antibody.
