Rotavirus possesses a triple-layered icosahedral protein capsid; VP6 is the intermediate-layer protein and is the most immunogenic of the capsid proteins, although it doesn’t induce neutralising antibodies. Rotavirus is the leading cause of severe diarrhoea in young children and is responsible for a large number of deaths, particularly in developing countries, where sufferers will mostly die of dehydration.

	This antibody is specific for mammalian group A rotaviruses (the most common group to infect humans) and cross-reacts with monkey rotavirus (SA-11), porcine rotavirus (PP) and numerous field strains of human rotaviruses.
Applications	Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunohistochemistry (frozen), and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution	Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Hybridoma	Sp2/0 myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice.
Storage and Stability	May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
