| Rotavirus possesses a triple-layered icosahedral protein capsid; VP6 is the intermediate-layer protein and is the most immunogenic of the capsid proteins, although it doesn’t induce neutralising antibodies. Rotavirus is the leading cause of severe diarrhoea in young children and is responsible for a large number of deaths, particularly in developing countries, where sufferers will mostly die of dehydration. | | | Catalog # | R3000-28A | | This antibody is specific for mammalian group A rotaviruses (the most common group to infect humans) and cross-reacts with monkey rotavirus (SA-11), porcine rotavirus (PP) and numerous field strains of human rotaviruses. | | Applications | Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunohistochemistry (frozen), and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Hybridoma | Sp2/0 myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Monoclonal | | Isotype | IgG2a | | Clone No | 10F389 | | Host | Mouse | | Concentration | ~1mg/ml | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.4, 0.09% sodium azide. | | Purity | Purified by Protein A affinity chromatography. | | Immunogen | Purified bovine rotarvirus, cell culture adapted strain MR. | | Specificity | Recognizes the p42 capsid antigen of rotavirus (the group-specific antigen, VP6). Specific for mammalian group A rotaviruses. Cross-reacts with monkey rotavirus (SA-11), porcine rotavirus (PP) and numerous field strains of human rotaviruses. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
