Specifications

Stem Cell Factor (SCF) is a hematopoietic growth factor that stimulates the proliferation of mast cells. SCF also mediates cell-cell adhesion and acts synergistically with other cytokines. The actions of SCF are exerted by binding to the SCF Receptor (PE-1243-50) which results in receptor dimerization. SCF is a type I membrane glycoprotein with 5 potential N-linked glycosylation sites. Soluble SCF is produced by proteolytic cleavage of the extracellular domain.
Catalog #S0400-09
SourceDNA sequence encoding the signal peptide and the mature Stem Cell Factor (SCF) protein of human SCF was expressed in modified human 293 cells.
Biological. ActivityThe ED50 of SCF is typically 10-20 ng/ml as measured in a cell proliferation assay using the human growth factor-dependent M-07e cell line.
Applications
Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested.
Recommended DilutionWestern Blot: SCF migrates as a broad band between ~20 and 42kD in SDS-PAGE due to post-translational modifications. Unmodified SCF has a predicted molecular mass of 21.0kD. SCF separates into a number of isoforms with a pI between 3.0 and 7.0 in 2D PAGE due to post-translational modifications. This compares with the unmodified SCF with a predicted pI of 5.76.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and StabilityLyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
SourceModified human 293 cells
