| Protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPases) SHP-1 and SHP-2 may serve as both negative or positive regulators in the intracellular signaling pathways. They are critical in cell responses such as mitosis, differentiation, migration, survival, transformation or death. SHP-2 is a signal transducer for several receptor tyrosine kinases and cytokine receptors. Recently identified was a novel SHP-2 associated glycosylated receptor-like protein from human, rat, mouse and cattle by several labs and was designated SIRP-1alpha (1), SHPS-1 (2,3), MyD-1 (4), BIT (5,6), p84 (7), and MFR (8). SHPS-1 is a member of a new gene family called the signal regulatory proteins of which there are at least fifteen members. SHPS-1 is a substrate of many activated tyrosine kinases such as insulin receptor, EGFR, PDGFR, and src, a specific docking protein for SHP-2 (1,2,5,9). SHPS-1 has regulatory effects on cellular responses induced by serum, growth factors, insulin, oncogenes, growth hormones and cell adhesion and plays a general role in different physiological and pathological processes (1,2,5,9). The mRNA of SHPS-1 is predominantly expressed in hematopoietic cells (2,3). | | | | | | Applications: | | | Western Blot (Colorimetric): 4ug/ml | | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by researcher. | | | Catalog # | S1013-87F | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Polyclonal | | Host | Rabbit | | Source | Rat | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.2, containing 0.02% sodium azide. This antibody is supplied as an IgG fraction. | | Purity | Chromatographically purified | | Immunogen | A 17 residue synthetic peptide KPEPSFSEYASVQVPRK based on | | the carboxy terminus of human SHPS-1/SIRP-1alpha (residues 487-503) was synthesized and the peptide coupled to KLH. The sequence differs from those of mouse, rat, and bovine by one amino acid. | | Specificity | Detects bands ranging from 80-95kD, corresponding to the many splice variants of SHPS-1 on SDS-PAGE immunoblots, in human cell lysates and in mouse, rat and bovine brain tissue extracts. The antibody specificity is confirmed in specific peptide inhibition immunoblotting studies | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
