| SMAD2 protein (also known as MADH2) is a transcriptional modulator activated by TGF beta. It is found at high levels in skeletal muscle, heart and placenta. SMAD2 exists in isoforms, a predominant long form and a short form missing the 30 amino acid exon 3. The short form shows DNA binding and higher transcriptional activation activity. SMAD2 may act as a tumor suppressor in colorectal carcinoma. | | | Catalog # | S1014-52 | | Applications | Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Western Blot: 1:100-1:250. Detects bands of ~45kD and 50kD in HeLa cell lysates. A minimum incubation time of 1 hour is recommended. | | Optimal working dilutions to be determined by researcher. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Polyclonal | | Isotype | IgG | | Host | Goat | | Source | Human | | Concentration | ~0.25mg/ml | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in TBS, pH 7.3, 0.02% sodium azide, 0.5% BSA, before the addition of glycerol to 40%. | | Purity | Purified by immunoaffinity chromatography. | | Immunogen | Synthetic peptide (SEIWGLSTPNTID) derived from SMAD2 protein sequence. | | Specificity | Recognizes human SMAD2. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
