SMAD2 protein (also known as MADH2) is a transcriptional modulator activated by TGF beta. It is found at high levels in skeletal muscle, heart and placenta. SMAD2 exists in isoforms, a predominant long form and a short form missing the 30aa exon 3. The short form shows DNA binding and higher transcriptional activation activity. SMAD2 may act as a tumor suppressor in colorectal carcinoma.

Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
