| The lysosphingolipid sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P) regulates cell proliferation, apoptosis, motility, and neurite retraction, both intracellularly as a second messenger and extracellularly as a receptor ligand. EDG8, a receptor for S1P, is a member of the G protein-coupled receptor family, as well as the EDG family of proteins. Human, rat, and mouse EDG8 proteins possess 97% sequence identity and appear to signal via G(i/o)alpha proteins. Human EDG8 is expressed in spleen, corpus collosum, peripheral blood leukocytes, placenta, lung, aorta, and several fetal tissues. Its precise role remains to be determined. | | | Catalog # | S5451-08B | | Applications | Suitable for use in ELISA and Immunohistochemistry.
