Stargazin is a 36kD member of the transmembrane AMPAR regulatory proteins (TARP) family, which plays a vital role in the regulation of the trafficking and localisation/targeting of synaptic AMPA (-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methylisoxazole-4-propionate) receptors (AMPARs).

AMPARs are a major group of ionotropic glutamate receptors, highly concentrated at the postsynaptic density (PSD) of excitatory synapses, which require strict regulation for the control of synaptic strength in the brain. Stargazin has been identified as a vital AMPAR-interacting protein which binds to AMPARs via its extracellular domain, whilst interacting with PDZ scaffolding proteins such as PSD-95, via a cytosolic C-terminal PDZ-binding motif.
Applications
Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution
Western Blot: 1:1000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminal region of rat stargazin, conjugated to KLH. Species sequence homology: mouse
Form
Supplied as a liquid in 10mM HEPES, pH 7.5, 150mM sodium chloride, 0.1mg/ml BSA, 50% glycerol.
Purity
Purified by affinity chromatography.
Specificity
Recognizes endogenous levels of rat stargazin.
