| Stathmin 1, a neuron-enriched soluble phosphoprotein is a ubiquitous, phylogenetically conserved protein present in the cytoplasm of cells in a variety of unphosphorylated and phosphorylated forms. Stathmin 1 is widely expressed in organisms ranging from Drosophila to humans and is especially highly expressed in the developing nervous system. Its expression is also elevated in a number of leukemias and solid tumors, which has led to the suggestion that it may be involved in tumorigenesis. The protein destabilizes microtubules and increases the frequency by which microtubule plus ends switch from growth to rapid shortening and thus plays an important role in linking cell signaling to the regulation of microtubule dynamics. Human Stathmin 1 has been mapped to chromosomal region 1p36.1-p35. | | | Catalog # | S7972-50Z | | Applications | Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry.
