| Streptomycin Sulfate is a broad spectrum antibiotic used in mammalian cell culture. It belongs to a group of drugs called aminoglycosides. Streptomycin inhibits prokaryote protein synthesis by binding to S12 protein of 30S ribosome. It prevents the transition from initiation complex to chain-elongating ribosome and causes miscoding. Thus, it prevents bacteria from manufacturing their cell walls. | | | Catalog # | S7975 | | Potency | 650-850u/mg | | Appearance: White crystalline powder | | Identification: Conforms to USP | | pH: 4.5-7.0 | | Loss on Drying: 5% | | Sterility: Conforms to USP | | Streptomycin B: 3% | | Sulfated Ash: 1% | | Sulfate: 18.0-21.5% (anhydrous) | | Sodium Metabisulphite: | | 0.3% | | Endotoxin: 0.25EU/mg | | Storage and Stability | Reconstitute by adding sterile buffer.
