| SOD1 destroys radicals which are normally produced within cells and which are toxic to biological systems by catalysing the dismutation of superoxide into oxygen and hydrogen peroxide. Copper and Zinc are its cofactors. It is a homodimer that localises to the cytoplasm. Defects in SOD1 are the cause of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS1) which is a neurodegenerative disorder affecting upper and lower motor neurons and resulting in fatal paralysis. | | | Catalog # | S8060-09F | | Applications | Suitable for use in ELISA.
