Syk is one of the well known protein tyrosine kinases. It is widely expressed and plays an important role in intracellular signal transduction in hematopoietic cells (1-3). Syk has been shown to interact with immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motifs (ITAMs) located in the cytoplasmic domains of immune receptors (4). It couples the activated immunoreceptors to downstream signaling events that mediate diverse cellular responses including proliferation, differentiation and phagocytosis (4). There is also evidence of a role for Syk in non-immune cells. Syk may be a potential tumor suppressor in human breast carcinomas (5).

Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
