| Synaptophysin labels normal neuroendocrine cells of human adrenal medulla, carotid body, skin, pituitary gland, thyroid, lung, pancreas, gastrointestinal mucosa, Paneth’s cells in the gastrointestinal tract and of gastric parietal cells. Neurons in the brain, spinal cord, and retina are also labeled. Anti-synaptophysin reacts with neuroendocrine neoplasms of neural as well as epithelial types e.g. neuroblastomas, ganglioneuroblastomas. ganglioneuromas, pheo-chromocytomas, chromaffin, and non-chromaffin paragangliomas. Of the epithelial types include pituitary adenomas, islet cell neoplasms, medullathyroid carcinomas, parathyroid adenomas, carcinoids of the bronchopulmonary and gastro-intestinal tracts and neuroendocrine carcinomas of the skin. In combination with anti-chromogranin A and anti-NSE, anti-synaptophysin is very useful in the identification of normal neuroendocrine cells and neuroendocrine neoplasms. | | | Catalog # | S9108-11 | | Applications | Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry using immunoperoxidase/fluorescent labeling of formalin fixed paraffin embedded or frozen tissue sections. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Indirect immunoperoxidase: 1:100-1:200 on formalin-fixed, paraffin embedded rat cerebellum. | | Optimal dilution determined by the researcher. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Monoclonal | | Isotype | IgG1 | | Clone No | 2Q105 | | Host | Mouse | | Source | Rat | | Concentration | Not Determined | | Form | Supplied as a liquid, 0.1% sodium azide. | | Purity | Ascites | | Immunogen | Rat retina synaptophysin | | Specificity | Recognizes rat Synaptophysin at ~40kD. Localizes the 38kD band of rat synaptophysin by immunoblotting. Stains synaptophysin in neurons, neuromuscular junctions, paraganglia cells, pancreatic islet cells, anterior lymphomas and adrenal cells. Detects synaptophysin in many types of benign and malignant neural and epithelial neuroendocrine neoplasmas.
