| Synaptotagmins are integral membrane proteins of synaptic vesicles that are thought to serve as Ca(2+) sensors in the process of vesicular trafficking and exocytosis. Calcium binding to synaptotagmin participates in triggering neurotransmitter release at the synapse. The first C2 domain mediates Ca(2+)-dependent phospholipid binding. The second C2 domain mediates interaction with Stonin 2. Synaptotagmin may have a regulatory role in the membrane interactions during trafficking of synaptic vesicles at the active zone of the synapse. It binds acidic phospholipids with a specificity that requires the presence of both an acidic head group and a diacyl backbone. A Ca(2+)-dependent interaction between synaptotagmin and putative receptors for activated protein kinase C has also been reported. It can bind to at least three additional proteins in a Ca(2+)-independent manner; these are neurexins, syntaxin and AP2. | | | Catalog # | S9108-98A | | Applications | Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Polyclonal | | Host | Chicken | | Source | Mouse | | Concentration | ~0.4mg/ml | | Form | PBS [pH7.2] containing 0.02% sodium azide | | Purity | Purified by immunoaffinity chromatography. | | Immunogen | Four different affinity-purified anti-peptide antibodies were combined to make this product from human (NP_005630, NCBI) and mouse (NP_033332, NCBI) peptide shared sequences. The concentrations of each of the four antibodies was 100 ug/ml (based on Bradford assay readings using bovine serum albumin as a standard), making the total antibody concentration 400 ug/ml. | | Specificity | Species Crossreactivity: Reacts with mouse Synaptotagmin. Other species have not been tested. Homology with human is 100% for the immunizing peptides. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. | | Alternate names | P65, SVP 65, SVP65, Synaptotagmin I, SYT 1, SYT, SYT1, SYTI |
