| This antibody recognizes a-synuclein, which belongs to a family of small cytoplasmic proteins expressed predominantly in neurons. The epitope maps to amino acid residues 121-125 of human a-synuclein. a-synuclein may be involved in neuronal plasticity and could act as a molecular chaperone that mediates the transformation of soluble AB into insoluble amyloid. The protein is a major component of Lewy bodies, the pathological hallmark of Parkinson’s disease, and is also observed in senile plaques of Alzheimer’s disease patients. Human a-synuclein appears to be phosphorylated at two major sites, serine 129 and serine 87, and phosphorylation may play a role in the functional regulation of the protein. | | | Catalog # | S9500-08 | | Applications | Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Western Blot: 0.5-1.0ug/ml | | Immunohistochemistry: formalin-fixed paraffin sections | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Recommended Positive Control | Human SHSY-5Y cells. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Freeze at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Monoclonal | | Isotype | IgG1 | | Clone No | 2B2.99 | | Host | Mouse | | Source | Human | | Concentration | ~0.5mg/ml | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.2, 0.1% BSA, 0.1% sodium azide. | | Purity | Purified by Protein A/G affinity chromatography. | | Immunogen | Recombinant human a-synuclein. | | Specificity | Recognizes alpha-synuclein (19kD).
