| Synucleins are small, soluble proteins expressed primarily in neural tissue and in certain tumors. The family includes three known proteins: a-synuclein, b-Synuclein, and g-Synuclein. All Synucleins have in common a highly conserved a-helical lipid-binding motif with similarity to the class-A2 lipid-binding domains of the exchangeable apolipoproteins. Although they are homologous, each Synuclein is encoded by a different gene on chromosomes 4q21.3-q22. b-Synuclein, also known as PNP 14, is expressed in the brain, specifically in synapses around neurons, but not in glial cells. The protein, which has also been designated as a phosphoneuroprotein, has been found to be phosphorylated in vitro and in vivo. | | | Catalog # | S9501-07 | | Applications | Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Western Blot: 1:2000-1:4000 | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Polyclonal | | Host | Rabbit | | Source | Human | | Concentration | As reported | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.4, 0.02% Thimerosal. | | Purity | Purified from rabbit whole serum by Protein A affinity chromatography. | | Immunogen | Recombinant human b-Synuclein purified from E. coli | | Specificity | Specific for human b-Synuclein. Does not crossreact with a- and g-Synuclein. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
