Tau proteins are microtubule associated proteins (MAPs). Alternate splicing of tau mRNA and differential phosphorylation contribute to the heterogeneity of tau.

ApplicationsSuitable for use in Immunofluorescence, Immunoprecipitation and Western Blot. Not suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Other applications have not been tested.
Recommended DilutionImmunoprecipitation (Native verified): 2ug/mg protein lysate Use Protein G
Western Blot: 1-2ug/ml for 2hrs at RT
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Positive ControlIMR5 cells, Human T98G glioblastoma cells or Alzheimer’s disease brain tissue
Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

SpecificityRecognizes the nonphosphorylated and phosphorylated forms of bovine Tau. Intensely stains the human neurofibrillary tangles, neuropil threads and neuritic plaques associated with Alzheimer’s disease. Does not crossreact with other MAPs or tubulin.
