| Thrombospondin is a regulator of many biological processes including cell growth, adhesion, migration, platelet aggregation, and fibrin deposition and lysis. It interacts with a number of plasma proteins such as fibrinogen and plasminogen and co-polymerizes with fibrin in clot formation. Thrombospondin also has multiple binding sites that interact with molecules such as fibronectin, collagens, laminin and heparan sulfate proteoglycans as well as binding growth factors such as TGF-beta1. Thrombospondin exerts an anti-adhesive effect which leads to cell rounding and detachment. | | | Catalog # | T5100-22 | | Applications | Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunohistochemistry and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | ELISA: 1:200 | | Immunohistochemistry (PLP): 1:200; works on bovine and human tissues. | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Hybridoma | SP2/0 myeloma cells with female BALB/c mice. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Monoclonal | | Isotype | IgG1,k | | Clone No | 6F199 | | Host | Mouse | | Source | Bovine | | Concentration | ~1mg/ml | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.4, 15mM sodium azide. | | Purity | Purified by Protein A affinity chromatography from culture supernatant. | | Immunogen | Extracellular matrix material from cultured bovine corneal endothelial cells. | | Specificity | Recognizes the low-calcium conformation of bovine thrombospondin. Epitope is only present in thrombospondin prepared in low calcium (0.1mmol/L) buffers. No crossreactivity with other connective tissue proteins (vitronectin, fibronectin, elastin, collagen, laminin). Species Crossreactivity: Human. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
