| TIMP-1and TIMP-2 have similar properties, specifically in inhibiting enzymes of matrix metalloproteinase family, and are thought to be of great importance in the maintenance of connective tissue integrity. TIMP-1 forms a complex of 1:1 stoichiometry with activated interstitial collagenase, activated stromelysin, active form of 72kD Type IV collagenase (also known as MMP-2 or gelatinase A), and latent and active forms of 92kD Type IV collagenase (also known as MMP-9 or gelatinase B). TIMPs inhibit the proteolytic invasiveness of tumor cells and normal placental trophoblast cells. | | | Catalog # | T5580-15 | | Applications | Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications have not been tested. | | Recommended Dilutions | Western Blot: 5-10ug/ml. Recognizes a band at ~28-30kD in reduced samples. | | Immunohistochemistry: frozen sections | | ELISA: 5ug/ml | | Optimal dilution to be determined by the researcher. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Polyclonal | | Isotype | IgG | | Host | Rabbit | | Source | Human | | Concentration | ~1mg/ml | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS, 0.02% sodium azide. | | Purity | Purified | | Immunogen | Full length purified human fibroblast TIMP (Tissue Inhibitor of Metalloproteinase). | | Specificity | Recognizes human TIMP (Tissue Inhibitor of Metalloproteinase).
