| Transferrin is a single polypeptide chain glycoprotein and is a member of the iron binding family of proteins. It has a molecular weight of 79.5kD and a serum concentration range of 1800-2700mg/L. It is synthesized in the liver and consists of two domains each having a high affinity reversible binding site for Fe3+. The iron is transported in blood and interstitial fluids to sites of use and disposal. Iron/transferrin is essential in hemoglobin synthesis and for certain types of cell division. Serum concentration rises in iron deficiency and pregnancy and falls in iron overload, infection and inflammatory conditions. | | | Catalog # | T8199-13B | | Applications | Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunoblot, (Western and Dot), Immunoprecipitation and conjugation. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | ELISA: 1:40,000-1:160,000 (Coat with 1ug transferrin in a standard sandwich ELISA using peroxiddase conjugated rabbit IgG and ABTS as a substrate for 30 min at RT). | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | Clone Type | Polyclonal | | Host | Rabbit | | Source | Human | | Concentration | ~10mg/ml | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.2, 0.01% sodium azide, 40% glycerol. | | Purity | Puri ed by delipidation, fractionation and ion exchange chromatography. | | Immunogen | Transferrin (Human Serum) | | | Specificity | Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti rabbit serum, purified and partially purified transferrin (human serum).
