| Transforming growth factor-betas (TGF betas) are multifunctional peptides that regulate growth and differentiation in a variety of cells. The transforming growth factor beta (TGF-beta) family of growth modulators play critical roles in tissue development and maintenance. Recent data suggest that individual TGF-beta isoforms (TGF-beta 1, -beta 2 and -beta 3) have overlapping yet distinct biological actions and target cell specificities, both in developing and adult tissues. | | | Catalog # | T8250-13F | | Transforming growth factor beta mediates many cell-cell interactions that occur during embryonic development. Three TGF betas have been identified in mammals. TGF beta-1, TGF beta-2 and TGF beta-3 are each synthesized as precursor proteins that are very similar in that each is cleaved to yield a 112 amino acid polypeptide that remains associated with the latent portion of the molecule. This antibody reacts with the precursor and mature form of recombinant human TGF beta- 2 and to a lesser extent TGF beta-3, but does not cross react with TGF beta-1. | | Description | Recombinant protein corresponding to aa177-391 from human TGF-b1 purified by standard chromatographic techniques. Shows a 51kD band on SDS-PAGE (including tag). | | Amino Acid Sequence | The sequence of the first five N-terminal amino acids was determined and was found to be Ala-Leu-Asp-Thr-Asn. | | Storage and Stability | For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Note: It is recommended to add a carrrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long-term storage. | | Molecular Weight | ~51kD | | Purity | 80% as determined by Analysis by RP-HPLC or SDS-PAGE | | Concentration | ~0.2mg/ml | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in 50mM Tris-acetate, pH 7.5, 1mM EDTA, 20% glycerol. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
