| The three-unit troponin complex (Troponin I, T and C), bound to tropomyosin, is located on the actin filament of skeletal and cardiac muscle. Troponin T binds to tropomyosin to form the troponin-tropomyosin complex. Troponin C binds calcium ions to produce a conformational change in Troponin I. Troponin I binds to the actin in thin myofilaments to hold the troponin-tropomyosin complex in place. When calcium binds to troponin, a conformation change is forced in troponin and tropomyosin, moving both proteins away from the myosin binding sites on the actin filaments. Thus, myosin can bind to actin and muscle contraction occurs. | | | Catalog # | T8665-11B | | Applications | Suitable for use in ELISA.
