| Troponin, working in conjunction with tropomyosin, functions as a molecular switch, regulating muscle contraction in response to changes in the intracellular Ca2+ concentration. Troponin consists of three subunits, the Ca2+-binding subunit troponin C (TnC), the tropomyosin-binding subunit troponin T (TnT), and the inhibitory subunit troponin I (TnI). Troponin I binds to actin in thin myofilaments to hold the actin-tropomyosin complex in place, because of which myosin cannot bind to actin in relaxed muscle. When Calcium binds to the Troponin C it causes certain confomational changes which leads to dislocation of troponin I. The letter “I” is given due to its inhibitory character. | | | Catalog # | T8665-13C | | Applications | Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunoprecipitation, Immunohistochemistry, Immunoaffinity purification and Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested. | | Recommended Dilutions | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Hybridoma | Sp2/0 myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Monoclonal | | Isotype | IgG1 | | Clone No | 1.BB.131 | | Host | Mouse | | Source | Human | | Concentration | ~5mg/ml | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.4, 0.1% sodium azide. | | Purity | Purified by Protein A affinity chromatography. >90% by SDS-PAGE. | | Immunogen | Native troponin complex. | | Specificity | Reacts equally with free cardiac troponin I (cTnI) and cTnI forming complexes with other troponin components.
