Troponin, working in conjunction with tropomyosin, functions as a molecular switch, regulating muscle contraction in response to changes in the intracellular Ca2+ concentration. Troponin consists of three subunits, the Ca2+-binding subunit troponin C (TnC), the tropomyosin-binding subunit troponin T (TnT), and the inhibitory subunit troponin I (TnI). Troponin I binds to actin in thin myofilaments to hold the actin-tropomyosin complex in place, because of which myosin cannot bind to actin in relaxed muscle. When Calcium binds to the Troponin C it causes certain confomational changes which leads to dislocation of troponin I. The letter “I” is given due to its inhibitory character.

ApplicationsCardiac troponin I calibrator set is intended for use as a reference and control material in laboratory immunoassay of human cardiac troponin I.
Recommended DilutionOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and StabilityLyophilized powder may be stored at -70°C. Stable for 12 months at -70°C. Reconstitute with 1ml sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -70°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
PrecautionsCalibrators contain human blood components. As all blood derivatives should be considered as potentially infectious, it is recommended that these reagents be handled using established good laboratory working practices.
