| Tumor Necrosis Factor alpha (TNF-alpha) is a 17.3kD multi-functional pro-inflammatory cytokine primarily secreted by macrophages, but also produced by T and B lymphocytes, activated monocytes and fibroblasts. TNF-alpha exists in both a transmembrane and mature soluble form and has many biological properties, including activation of transcription factor NF-KappaB, the induction of apoptosis in various tumor cell lines and the stimulation of cell differentiation and proliferation under certain conditions. Studies have revealed a role for TNF-alpha in inflammation, septic shock, autoimmune disease and rheumatoid arthritis. | | | Catalog # | T9160-18A | | Applications | Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry, ELISA and Inhibition of biological activity of TNFa in different biological fluids. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilutions | Immunohistochemistry: Formalin-fixed frozen tissues | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Recommended Pair | Capture: T9160-32A | | Detection: T9160-18A | | Hybridoma | X63.Ag8.653 myeloma cells with spleen cells of Balb/c mice. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile 40-50% glycerol, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Monoclonal | | Isotype | IgG1 | | Clone No | 5E852 | | Host | Mouse | | Source | Human | | Concentration | ~8mg/ml | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.4, 0.1% sodium azide. | | Purity | Purified by Protein A affinity chromatography. | | Immunogen | Human recombinant tumor necrosis factor of alpha type. | | Specificity | Recognizes human TNFa.
