Urotensin II (U-II) is a cyclic heptapeptide that functions both as a potent vasoconstrictor and a neurotransmitter/neuromodulator. U-II circulates in the plasma as a zymogen, and is activated by the urotensin converting enzyme. U-II is the endogenous ligand for the G-protein coupled receptor 14 (GPR14), recently renamed the UT receptor.

Changes in the expression of U-II and its receptor have been associated with cardiovascular and renal diseases, including atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction, and diabetic nephropathy.
ApplicationsSuitable for use in ELISA and Immunoassays. Other applications not tested.
Recommended DilutionOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
HybridomaSp2/0 myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice.
Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
