Clone Host Grade Applications
Polyclonal Rabbit Affinity Purified B IH
VASP is a novel phosphoprotein associated with microfilaments, focal adhesions and highly dynamic membranes not only in human platelets but also in a wide variety of other cells and tissues. VASP was originally discovered, purified and characterized as a protein which is phosphorylated in response to both cAMP and cGMP elevating vasodilators and platelet inhibitors mediated by cAMP and cGMPdependentprotein kinases (cAK, cGK). The protein is involved in signal transduction and cellular motility. Morever as the protein contains both actin binding and actin monomer-nucleating capabilities, the molecule is also of particular interest for reorganization of the cytoskeleton. Human VASP gene is localized on chromosomal region 19q13.2-q13.3.
