SPECIAL c-Jun 10% OFF
| |
c-Jun is a major component of the heterodimeric transcription factor AP-1 and is essential for embryonic development. It mediates several cellular processes, including proliferation and survival, and is up-regulated in many carcinomas. Transactivation of c-Jun is regulated by Jun-N-terminal Kinases (JNKs) through phosphorylation at Serine 63 and 73, as well as at threonine 91 and 93.

FEATURED Cell Lysate
| |
Cell lysates are useful in Western Blot applications as a positive control for many antibodies. Most cell lysates are prepared by homogenization in modified RIPA buffer (150mM sodium chloride, 50mM Tris-HCl, pH 7.4, 1mM ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, 1mM phenylmethylsulfonyl flouride, 1% Triton X-100, 1% sodium deoxycholic acid, 0.1% sodium dodecylsulfate, 5ug/ml of aprotinin, 5ug/ml of leupeptin).

ARTICLE Amoebic Dysentery Treatment
| |
| Trophozoites of Entamoeba histolytica with ingested erythrocytes (trichrome stain). The ingested erythrocytes appear as dark inclusions. |
An inexpensive arthritis drug called auranofin has been shown in lab and animal tests to kill the parasites that cause amoebic dysentery and giardiasis1, 2. The gold-containing drug, marketed under the trade name Ridaura, has already been demonstrated to be safe in humans, is much more powerful than existing treatments. Human trials are expected to start soon for this new application.
