Antibodies to Infectious Diseases:
Epstein BarrInfectious diseases, both human and animal, are an ongoing problem throughout the world. United States Biological carries a variety of both monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies to a wide range of infectious diseases including Anthrax, Cytomegalovirus, E. coli, HIV, Influenza, Mycoplasma, Papilloma, Pseudomonas, Rotavirus, Salmonella, and many others.

A sampling of Infectious Disease Antibodies and Antigens:

anti- Escherichia coli (E. coli)
Escherichia coli (E. coli) is a Gram negative bacterium that is commonly found in the lower intestine of warm-blooded organisms (endotherms). Most E. coli strains are harmless, but some, such as serotype O157:H7, can cause serious food poisoning in humans.

anti- Canine Heartworm (Dirofilaria immitis)
Heartworm is a parasitic roundworm (Dirofilaria immitis) that is spread from host to host through the bites of mosquitoes. The heartworm is a type of filaria, a small thread-like worm. The definitive host is the dog but it can also infect cats, wolves, coyotes, foxes and other animals, such as ferrets, sea lions and even, under very rare circumstances, humans.

Hepatitis B Surface Antigen ad (HBsAg ad)
Hepatitis B is an infection of the liver caused by the hepatitis B virus. Approximately 5-10% of adults and 90% of babies who are infected with HBV will go on to carry the virus for the rest of their lives. These people will pass the virus onto others. HBV is excreted in body fluids such as semen, saliva, blood and urine in persons with acute or chronic infection.

Toxoplasma gondii
Toxoplasma is a crescent shaped sporozoan that lives as intracellular parasite in various tissues of vertebrates and completes its life cycle in a single host. It is transmitted via raw/undercooked meat, contaminated soil, or by direct contact.

Infectious disease Antigens :
bird fluTo aid in the effective study of these terrible diseases, United States Biological offers a large collection of highly purified antigens including Adenovirus, Bacillus anthracis, Chlamydia trachomatis, Encephalitis, and HIV. All antigens are intended for laboratory use and are non-infectious.

Helicobacter pylori is a Gram-negative, microaerophilic bacterium that inhabits various areas of the stomach and duodenum. It causes a chronic low-level inflammation of the stomach lining and is strongly linked to the development of duodenal and gastric ulcers and stomach cancer.

Infectious Diseases
Antibodies and Antigens

United States Biological has a wide variety of infectious disease antibodies and antigens. These antibodies are appropriate for ELISA, western blot, and immunohistochemistry applications as noted for each infectious disease antibody.

Infectious diseases can be caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoa, and parasites. Each type of disease offers different avenues of infection and different approaches to its control. Fifty years ago many people believed the battle against infectious disease was virtually over, with good control being made over infectious diseases. Over the past two decades, however, at least a dozen new diseases have been identified (such as AIDS, Legionnaire disease, and hantavirus pulmonary syndrome), and traditional diseases that appeared to be nearing full control (such as malaria and tuberculosis) are resurging. Globally, infectious diseases remain the leading cause of death, and they are the third leading cause of death in the United States.
