FEATURED Breast Cancer Fundraiser
| |
In case you haven't noticed, our October newsletter is dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Our article is about Triple Negative Breast Cancer and our Special is products used in cancer research, but it doesn't stop there! For the whole month of October, United States Biological is doing a fundraiser and all the proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen foundation. We have created an online donations page for all of our friends and family (yes, that includes our clients as well) to help us with the cause and to make it easy to donate online.
Wait, there's more! On October 20th, we will be having a Passionately PINK for the Cure party! Everyone at our lab will be wearing their brightest pink outfit to celebrate the courage of so many people fighting cancer and the ones who stand by their side during the hardest times. We ask everyone to wear PINK as well, whether you do it as a group or not, and send us a picture of your outfit (be creative!) to newsletter@usbio.net.
Please, don't forget to donate at www.info-komen.org/goto/USBiological.

ARTICLE Triple Negative Breast Cancer
| |
About 10 to 20 percent of breast cancers are classified as triple-negative. Having triple-negative breast cancer means that cells test negative for estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), and HER2 receptors. This cancer will not respond to hormonal therapies, including tamoxifen, Arimidex, Aromasin, Femara, and Faslodex, or to medications that target HER2, such as Herceptin or Tykerb.
