Phosphatidylethanolamine binding protein 1 (PEBP1), also known as Raf kinase inhibitor protein (RKIP), is a member of the phosphatidylethanolamine-binding protein family and a serine protease inhibitor which inhibits thrombin, neuropsin. PEBP1 plays a pivotal modulatory role in several protein kinase signaling cascades. Protein kinase C (PKC) phosphorylates PEBP1, resulting in release of Raf-1 and activation of MEK and ERK. Expressed in many tissues, PEBP1 is implicated in the regulation of such physiological processes as membrane biosynthesis, spermatogenesis, neural development, and metastasis suppression. Recombinant human PEBP1 , expressed in E. coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
