Albuterol (Salbutamol)
Description:
Salbutamol, which is used extensively in the treatment of asthma, is effective as a bronchodilator by its action on the b-2-adrenergic receptors of the bronchial and vascular smooth muscles. Tracer studies have shown that after inhalation of tritiated salbutamol at doses of 84 and 220ug, the peak plasma level averaged 0.95ng ml-1 (n =3) and 3.22ng ml-1(n=4), respectively. In another experiment, where the tritiated drug was given separately in oral (8mg) and in aerosol (0.08mg) doses to patients, peak salbutamol plasma concentrations achieved were approximately 20 and 0.25ng ml-1, respectively.

Applications:
Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested.

ELISA: 10ug/ml

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
