Amoxicillin
Description:
Amoxicillin is used in the treatment of a number of infections, including acute otitis media, Streptococcal pharyngitis, pneumonia, skin infections, urinary-tract infections, Salmonella, lyme disease, and chlamydia infections.

Applications:
Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested.

Recommended Dilution:
ELISA: 1:1500. Sensitivity of ~50pg penicillin, 100pg/ml cloxacillin and 200pg/ml ampicillin, amoxicillin and hetacillin when used with the recommended conjugate (supplied). See A1463A.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

Supplied as a liquid in PBS, 0.05% sodium azide.
Specificity:
Recognizes Penicillins G, V, N, ampicillin, amoxicillin, hetacillin, cloxacillin and other antibiotics with penicillanic acid core. Much higher af nity for hydrolyzed (open) beta-lactam ring than closed ring. Does not react with beta- lactams with cephalosporanic acid core, other classes of antibiotics or milk or serum proteins.
