Antibiotic L 681,217 is a glycolipid-type antibiotic related to the efrotomycin class isolated from a Streptomyces sp. It inhibits bacterial protein synthesis at the elongation stage, its target being elongation factor Tu (EF-Tu). Antibiotic L 681,217 also shows broad spectrum antibiotic activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Purity: >95% by HPLC Solubility: Soluble in methanol, DMF or DMSO.
