Control Peptide for A3000-07 (affinity purified antibody) and A3000-07P (antiserum). 19 AA peptide sequence mapping at the N-terminal, 2nd extracellular domain of mouse/rat AQP2 (1). Species Homology: Peptide is 100% conserved in rat, 78% in sheep, and 73% in human AQP2.

Water is a critical component of all living cells. Interestingly, tissue membranes show a great degree of water permeability. Mammalian red cells, renal proximal tubules, and descending thin limb of Henle are extraordinarily permeable to water. Water crosses hydrophobic plasma membranes either by simple diffusion or through a facilitative transport mechanism mediated by special protein “aquaporin”. Over the last decade, genes for several members of aquaporin family (AQP1-9 and AQPQP) have been cloned, expressed, and their distribution studied in many tissues.

AQP2 or AQP-CD or WCH-CD (mouse, rat, human 271aa; human gene locus 12q13) is the vasopressin-regulated water channel of the apical membrane of collecting duct cells. AQP families of proteins are predicted to contain six transmembrane domains. The N and C-termini are predicted to be cytoplasmic. Defects in AQP2 are a cause of an autosomal dominant form of nephrogenic diabetes insipidus (NDI).

Applications:
Suitable for use in ELISA and Antibody Blocking. Not suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested.

Recommended Dilution:
ELISA: 1ug/ml
Antibldy Blocking: 5-10ug per 1ug A3000-07 (affinity purified antibody) or per 1ul A3000-07P (antiserum).
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
