Defensin beta 3 (BD-3) is a cationic non-haemolytic antimicrobial peptide and member of the beta-defensin family, highly expressed by skin and tonsils, which plays an important role in the innate immune response to potentially pathogenic microbes, including multiresistant S. aureus and vancomycin-resistant E. faecium. Source: E.coli Applications: Suitable for use in Functional Assays. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Endotoxin: 1EU/ug Molecular Weight: 5.1kD (45 amino acid residues) Biological Activity: Exhibits antimicrobial activity against gram-positive bacteria S. aureus and gram-negative P. aeruginosa and E.coli. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer or ddH2O. Aliquot and store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. |
