Beef Extract is a desiccated powder used as a substitute for infusions of meat for culture media. Appearance: Light tan powder Solubility: Gold, clear and complete Total Nitrogen: 11% Amino Nitrogen: 3.9% Loss on Drying: 5% Ash: 19% pH (2%): 6.5-7.5 Standard Plate Count: 000cfu/g Yeast and Mold: 100cfu/g Coliforms: 10cfu/g E. coli: Negative Salmonella: Negative Growth Supporting Properties Peptone Agar (USP): Satisfactory Broth Formulations: Satisfactory Heat Processing: Beef Extract is heat treated to a minimum of 85°C for 6 hours during processing.
