Betacellulin (BTC) is a widely expressed EGF-related polypeptide growth factor, proteolytically processed into a soluble mature form, which acts as a potent inducer of mitosis in vascular smooth muscle cells and retinal pigment epithelial cells. BTC signals through binding to the homodimeric ErbB-1 and ErbB-4 receptors, but also appears to uniquely bind to and activate all known heterodimeric ErbB receptors. Source: Recombinant Betacellulin expressed in E.coli. Activity: The ED50 was determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of murine Balb/3T3 cells is 0.05ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 2x10e7units/mg. Applications: Suitable for use in Functional Assays. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot and store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Molecular Weight: 9.0kD |
