Brain Natriuretic Peptide, Pro, NT, aa13-27 (NT-proBNP, N-terminal prohormone brain natriuretic peptide) |
|
|
Description: Human brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) is a secreted protein which is a member of the natriuretic peptide family. BNP is a cardiac hormone, which is synthesized as a pro-hormone (proBNP), and is proteolytically cleaved to release a biologically active fragment (BNP), and an inactive fragment (NT-proBNP) into the circulation. BNP is predominantly secreted from the cardiac ventricles in response to volume and pressure overload, and results in a number of biological activities including natriuresis, diuresis, vasorelaxation, and inhibition of the sympathetic nervous system. A high concentration of BNP in the bloodstream is indicative of heart failure. Hybridoma: Hybridization of Sp2/0 myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. |
