Cadherin 11 (OB-Cadherin, Osteoblast, CDH11) |
|
|
Description: The cadherin gene family encodes calcium-dependent adhesion molecules that promote homophilic interactions among cells. All cadherins are single-pass transmembrane proteins with a variable number of extracellular ecommended for PC-3 cell line (human prostate cell line)domains (EC; 110 amino acids long). Classical cadherins consist of five EC domains and a conserved cytoplasmic domain and are divided in type I and type II subgroups. Type I comprises cadherin E, N, P, and R. Type II include cadherin- 5, -6, -8, -11, and -12. Cadherin-11 (OB-cadherin) is a marker of the loosely connected and migratory cellular elements of the mesenchyme. Strong expression of cadherin-11 has been found in brain, spinal cord, bone marrow and bone cells, and it is regulated in human endometrial glandular epithelial and stromal cells. Recently, cadherin-11 mRNA and protein were found to be expressed in most invasive breast cancer cell lines tested (but not in non-invasive cell lines), suggesting cadherin-11 as a potential marker for aggressive, invasive tumor subsets. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry (frozen sections, paraformaldehyde fixed; with 0.2% Triton X-100 in PBS) Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunohistochemistry: Incubation Time 1 hr at RT / overnight at 4°C. Dilute immediately before use in PBS. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Recommended Positive control: PC-3 cell line (human prostate cell line) Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile 40-50% glycerol, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. |
