Description: Caldesmon is a developmentally regulated protein involved in smooth muscle and non-muscle contraction. Two closely related variants of human caldesmon have been identified which differ in their eletrophoretic mobility and cellular distribution. The h-caldesmon variant (120-150kD) is predominantly expressed in smooth muscle whereas l-caldesmon (70-80kD) is found in nonmuscle tissue and cells. Neither of the two variants has been detected in skeletal muscle. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. |
