Description: Caldesmon is a developmentally regulated protein involved in smooth muscle and non-muscle contraction. Two closely related variants of human caldesmon have been identified which differ in their eletrophoretic mobility and cellular distribution. The h-caldesmon variant (120-150kD) is predominantly expressed in smooth muscle whereas l-caldesmon (70-80kD) is found in nonmuscle tissue and cells. Neither of the two variants has been detected in skeletal muscle. MW of Antigen: 80kD (l-caldesmon) Epitope: Not determined Applications and Recommended Dilutions: Immunofluorescence Western Blotting (Ab 1-2ug/ml for 2hrs at RT) Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/paraffin) (Use Ab at 1-2ug/ml for 30 min at RT) * [Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0, for 10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 min.] The optimal dilution for a specific application should be determined by the investigator. Positive Control: Rh30 cells. Uterus Cellular Localization: Cytoplasmic Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Freeze at-20°C or colder. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at-20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. |
