Calpain I (Mu Calpain, Protein Kinase C Activating Factor)
Description:
Applications:
Suitable for use in Immunoblot, Immunocytochemistry, Immunoprecipitation and ELISA. Other applications have not been tested.

Recommended Dilution:
Immunoblot: 1:500. Detects an 80kD large subunit mu-calpain and the subunit in the non-activated proform of the zymogen. Showing a band of ~110kD.

Immunocytochemistry: 1:50 on A431 epidermal carcinoma.

ELISA: 1:3000 (Against the immunogen).

Immunoprecipitation: Calcium is required for large and small subunit association.

Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Positive Control:
WI-38 human fibroblasts or human erthryocytes

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Specificity:
Reacts with human calpain-I (mu-Calpain). Does not crossreact with human placental m-calpain (calpain II). This antibody will immunoprecipitate proteolytically active calpains. Species Crossreactivity: Human, rat, mouse and hamster.
