Description: CD44 is a 90kD type I transmembrane protein, otherwise known as HCAM or CD44s. Various isoforms of CD44 exist. CD44 is a receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA) and is involved in cell-cell interactions, cell adhesion and migration. CD44 also participates in a wide variety of cellular functions including lymphocyte activation, recirculation and homing. CD44 expression may be up-regulated upon some carcinomas, and it has been speculated that this may be related to metastatic potential. Applications: Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry, Immunohistochemistry, Immunoprecipitation and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Flow Cytometry: 1:50-1:100; 10ul labels 10e6 cells in 100ul Immunohistochemistry (Frozen): 1:100 Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin): 1:100; Requires antigen retrieval using heat treatment with sodium citrate buffer, pH 6 prior to staining of paraffin sections. Western Blot: Detects a band at ~80kD in HeLa cell lysate. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Recommended Negative Control: I1904-83P1: IgG2a Murine Negative Control Immunohistochemistry Positive Control: Human Tonstil Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. |
